Having an unusual sense of purpose when she was in her late teens, Angela knew that the political arena was one of her true passions because it incorporated strategic mental planning and public service – natural qualities that she saw in her developing personality.  Angela believes that being in politics is a calling and that one should only stand in the ring if one is prepared to work selflessly for ALL People regardless of party affiliation, and finds gratification in doing the peoples business by getting the job done.

During her late teens, Angela cut her teeth in the arena of  union and political activity by working as a dedicated  Teamster representative at the Washington Post company  and later as a member of the Communications Workers of America, Printing and Media Division, where she learned Teamwork, dedication, and loyalty.  She was also appointed to the mayor’s teen initiative program where she worked to ensure that eligible young men and women were registered to vote and cast their votes at the polls.

While In Washington, Angela worked with numerous campaigns, including those of the Mayor and various district council members.   She also worked with President Bill Clinton’s first campaign for the White House.  Angela has facilitated almost every aspect of grass roots campaigning for candidates from stuffing envelopes, to standing in traffic holding signs, phone banking to strategical planning.

After moving to Georgia, Angela attended Georgia Tech’s School of Business where she learned the “business of business.” She used the skills acquired from her professional training to establish her own business, which specializes in staff placements for the medical profession.

Angela has been heavily committed to the success of the Democratic Party in our state and has worked in several local and state wide campaigns.  She served as Chair of the 92nd House District, Senate Advisory Chair of the 43rd District and is currently the Communications Director for the Democratic Party of DeKalb.

In 2006, Angela gained an enormous wealth of campaign experience in a statewide election.  Angela says it was her honor to engage in the race to become Georgia's next Secretary of State where her faith in Georgians was heightened after meeting such wonderful people across the state.
